Getting the fit right

How to measure your dog's paw
Sizing by breed alone is unreliable — two dogs of the same breed can be a size apart. Measure instead. It takes a minute.
- Stand your dog on a hard floor so there's weight on the paw. A paw spreads under load, and that's the size you need.
- Measure the front paw across its widest point, including the outer toes.
- Match that measurement to the paw width column below. If your dog falls between two sizes, choose the larger one — a slightly roomy sock with the strap tightened works well, a tight one comes off.
Size chart
| Size | Paw width | Sock length | Example breeds |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 4.6 cm (1.81″) | 11.2 cm (4.4″) | Yorkshire Terrier, Chihuahua, Maltese, Pomeranian |
| S | 5.3 cm (2.1″) | 13.7 cm (5.4″) | Corgi, Shih Tzu, Miniature Schnauzer, Jack Russell |
| M | 6.6 cm (2.6″) | 16 cm (6.3″) | Border Collie, Cocker Spaniel, Beagle, Whippet |
| L | 7.4 cm (2.76″) | 17.8 cm (7″) | Golden Retriever, Labrador, Boxer, Dalmatian |
| XL | 8.9 cm (3.5″) | 19.8 cm (7.8″) | German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Bernese Mountain Dog |
Breeds are a rough guide only. Paw width is what decides the fit.
A note on fit
The socks stretch by roughly 1–3 cm (0.5–1 inch), so a small difference either way is fine. What matters more is the strap: tighten it above the ankle and the sock stays on. The elastic cuff alone won't hold a dog moving at speed.
